Media Visionary: Roger Ailes

Roger Ailes is popularly known as the creator and president of the well known conservative news channel, Fox News.  He was born on May 15, 1940 in Warren, Ohio.  His television career started on The Mike Douglas Show.  Past President Nixon was impressed by Roger Ailes’ discussions on The Mike Douglas Show about television’s importance in politics.  As a result he hired Ailes as the media adviser for the Nixon Campaign from 1967-1968.  Later he founded the Ailes Communication Firm and continued to consult for other past presidents, Ronald Reagan and George Bush.  He then helped to produce the T.V. series “Television and the Presidency”.  After writing the book “You Are the Message: Secrets of the Master Communicators” he became the president of CNCB.  Roger Ailes had his own talk show, “Straight Forward”, on the CNCB channel he created called “America’s Talking”.  When Roger’s talk show was abandoned, Rupert Murdoch asked Mr. Ailes to create Fox News.  Roger Ailes currently chairs Fox Television Stations, Twentieth Television, MyNetwork TV, and Fox Business Network.
